From spot rental to long term rental, Driveline can supply a vehicle to suit your requirements. Based in St Austell, Cornwall, we can help you with your van hire throughout the South West.

Driveline have small car derived vans, such as the Volkswagen Caddy or Vauxhall Combo which offer car handling, performance and economy, whilst offering a large load space for your goods.

On fleet we also have Ford Transit short wheel bases with a medium high roof, Mercedes Sprinter medium wheel base and long wheel base vans with a high roof. The long wheel base van also has a load length of 4.2 metres and offers comfortable all day long driving for long distances.

For more bulky loads, Driveline have available to hire Mercedes Sprinter or Iveco Daily Luton Vans, these are fitted with a Tail Lift for extra help in loading.

Need to collect stone or gravel from the local builders merchants? Not a problem, Driveline have Tippers for hire so that you can collect yourself and tip when convenient to you, so that you are not reliant on the delivery schedule.

Truck rental

Need truck rental in the South West? For personal and business use, we have 7.5 tonne box vans with tail lift.

For personal use these vehicles are ideal for moving home as they have plenty of space, and can be driven on a car license if you passed your test prior to January 1997. For the haulage industry there is also available to hire 44 tonne 6 x 2 tractor units.

Vehicle maintenance

It is the responsibility of operators and their drivers to ensure that the vehicles and trailers they operate, including any hired, leased or borrowed, are kept in a roadworthy condition when used on the road. They should also have in place an established “Driver daily walk around check” procedure and defect reporting system.

Safe loading

Vehicles must be loaded and operated in a safe manner and not overloaded. Vehicles and trailers must be loaded and operated in a safe manner and do not exceed the vehicles plated weight.

Goods vehicles - operating license

An Operator’s Licence (O Licence) must be held by the user of a goods vehicle used to carry goods in connection with business or trade, or hire & reward, where the vehicle’s gross plated weight is in excess of 3.5 tonnes. Please also note that you require an Operator’s Licence for any rental duration.

Tachographs

All vehicles over 3.5 tonnes are fitted with either a digital or analogue tachograph. A tachograph must be utilised when the vehicle is used in connection with any activities that fall within scope. Your drivers will require a driver card to use a vehicle fitted with a digital tachograph.
